Materials
Here you’ll find a selection of materials I use to make Rockster Pens. Most of the examples shown are standard options, but some are rarer or more expensive, and may carry an additional cost if chosen for a commission. These are marked with an Asterix for transparency.
From time to time I also have one-off or vintage pieces that aren’t listed here, so if you have something particular in mind, just ask.
Standard Acrylics
The most common choice - durable, colourful and available on a wide variety of patterns.
Swirly
Natural flowing swirls of colour, often with striking depth and movement.
Confetti
Made by mixing larger pieces of resin into a contrasting base, creating bold, lively patterns.
Pearly
Shimmering pearlescence that catches the light with soft, elegant tones.
Sparkly
Filled with fine glitter that adds a bright, eye-catching shimmer throughout the pen.
Mosaic (Tessera)
A patchwork of colours resembling tiny tiles, giving a geometric, eye-catching effect.
Strata
Built from laminated layers, producing distinctive striped or banded designs.
Omas Acrylics*
Rare stock from the old Omas factory, hard to source and highly sought after by collectors.
Conway Stewart Acrylics*
Original resins from the famous British company Conway Stewart. Timeless classics in a variety of colours. Subject to availability.
Mazzucchelli*
A renowned Italian cellulose acetate once produced for pens. Production has long since stopped, making the remaining stock extremely rare and expensive.
Wood
Usually maple burr (burl), often dyed and stabilised for strength. Always lined with acrylic inside for durability. Each piece is unique. (Not Available for Commissions)
Celluloid (occasional)
Rare and highly sought after. Difficult to work with and often vintage stock. Availability is limited.
Special Notes / Cost Transparency
Please note: while most materials are included in the standard pricing, certain options, such as vintage cellulose acetate, rare celluloid, or premium stabilised woods, may carry an additional cost. I’ll always confirm this before starting a commission, so there are no surprises.
