This DayDreamer model is made from natural stabilised spalted maple. The process involves using pressure and/or vacuum to impregnate the wood's cellular structure with resin to improve the stability of the wood.
"Spalted" refers to the dark lines that run through the wood. It occurs when certain fungi grow on dead or fallen trees. After colonising the wood it travels through the wood cells and creates the attractive, organic pattern.
Beautiful Tiger Eye tortoiseshell coloured cellulose is used for the cap threads and section. This is a favourite material here at Rockster as to only does it look great but it feels soft and warm to the touch. It features a red section rig and the cap finial houses a solid sterling silver and red logo coin.
I describe the finish as “natural”. The pen is oiled, waxed, buffed and polished which gives it a satin lustre on the wood parts and, whilst completely smooth to the touch, you can still see the grain and characteristics of the wood, including small imperfections. No lacquer or varnish has been added.
The cellulose areas are highly polished.
It is shown fitted with a Jowo no6 gold plate nib.
The 1315 is a wider sized pen with a step between the 13mm cap threads and the remainder of the tapered barrel which is 15mm in diameter at the widest point. The grip section is slightly pinched to ≈11.5mm diameter at its narrowest point.
The cap tapers towards the end. As these pens are all hand made there may be small variations on measurements. This model does not post.
Length - Capped ≈ 140mm, uncapped ≈ 134mm
It is provided with a high quality Beaufort Ink international standard sized converter. Standard ink cartridges can also be used.
