Model Description
The Rascal is a shorter, stockier pen compared to a typical length pen, measuring around 132mm (5.2 inches) closed and 120mm (4.75 inches) open. Both the cap and barrel taper towards their ends, creating a comfortable and well-balanced profile.
Each pen is individually handcrafted, so small variations in measurements are natural, making every Rascal one of a kind.
This wooden pen is fully lined, both cap and barrel, which provides more structural integrity to the pen and also allows for the threaded parts to be more easily machined. It also prevents the nib drying out and helps limit any potential issues caused in the unlikely event of an ink leakage.
Stabilised wood is impregnated with resin under vacuum thus giving the wood additional strength and making it more hard wearing than natural wood whilst still offering a natural wood-like feel and appearance.
These pens undertake a two-stage finishing process. The wood is coated in melamine, a hard-wearing waterproof lacquer. Hard wax is also added to give a natural satin finish allowing a more natural feel to the wood than some alternative lacquers. This does mean that the imperfections in the wood will be more evident than with a high gloss lacquer equivalent. Please bear this in mind before purchasing this pen.
The acrylic finials, section and accent rings are hand-polished to a high gloss finish which offers a pleasing contrast to the wood.
Each pen is meticulously handcrafted, leading to minor variations in measurements, making every piece unique.
